
Shireen Rahimi
Shireen Rahimi is a marine science Ph.D. student at the University of Miami's Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy and a photographer. She is being co-advised in her Ph.D. by Dr. Daria Siciliano and Dr. Kenny Broad. She is studying how increasing tourism is impacting a coral reef ecosystem in Western Cuba, using methods in coral reef ecology, political ecology, and visual media production. Shireen is passionate about using science and imagery to tell the stories of those living and depending on our rapidly changing earth.

Alex Puritz
Alex recently graduated from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science with an M.S. in Marine Affairs and Policy. She collaborated with CubaMar on her thesis research, which looked at management effectiveness of marine protected areas in Cuba with a focus on Jardines de la Reina and Punta Francés National Parks. Currently, she is working at The Ocean Foundation as a Program Associate.
